Click here to view the locations and weeks that have either limited availability or are sold out. We update this report every business day. If the location and week you’re considering isn’t listed on this report, availability was not an issue as of when the report was created. We do recommend registering your child as soon as you can, as camps are filling up quickly in 2022.
At the Richmond Hill location, we’re going to be using 3 classrooms, 2 of which are air conditioned.
Typically, our counsellor to camper ratio is 1:7. In other words, there is 1 counsellor for every 7 campers.
The majority of our counsellors are university and college students (some secondary school students are hired each year, as well). We also employ teachers who want to create an impact in the summer months, as well as graduates of teachers colleges across Ontario. A recent Vulnerable Sector Police Check and being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are both mandatory requirements for all counsellors. There will be at least one counsellor present at each camp location with their First Aid certification at all times.
As a result of our planning, diligence and meeting or exceeding public safety requirements, we were very proud that in 2021, no child or counsellor contracted COVID-19 at a STEM Camp location. We are planning on releasing our 2022 Health and Safety Policy at the end of May 2022 (including COVID-19 details as well as other general health and safety information) to ensure it is as current as possible to the reality at that time and for the summer. Check back here for more information then.
If your child is aged 12 or older, the answer is yes, and proof of vaccination will be required to enter the premises. Children under 12 years of age are encouraged to be vaccinated, but it is not mandatory at this time. Please note, this is a stipulation of our rental agreement with this facility (Richmond Hill United Church), and is not currently a STEM Camp policy. STEM Camp will continue to update families as further guidance is provided by the Ontario Camps Association and new regulations enacted by public health agencies with regards to vaccination against COVID-19.
