As part of our commitment to community and supporting STEM learning and work in many ways, STEM Camp has partnered with the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario to assist them with a research study called CALIPER.
About the CALIPER Research Project
CALIPER is a Canada-wide initiative working to help healthcare workers accurately diagnose and treat children at SickKids. This is done through creating a database of healthy blood test values, which doctors reference. Healthy children and adolescents can donate their blood sample to help us build this database. Your involvement means you’re helping doctors to diagnose children at SickKids and other children’s hospitals around Canada!
Who Can Participate & What’s Involved
Healthy children and teens from birth to 18 years old can participate in the CALIPER study. Participation involves:
Competion of a consent form and questinonaire
Waist, height and weight measurements
A small blood donation (it only takes 20 seconds!)
Benefits of Participating
By participating in the study, youth and parents can expect to receive:
Choice of a CALIPER t-shirt or teddy bear
Two volunteer hours
$10 honorarium
