It’s International Women’s Day but it is also the release of the movie Captain Marvel in Canada. We think it is fitting that Captain Marvel is being released on the same day as International Women’s Day due to the fact that the lead character is a women. Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel, also known as Carol Danvers was the head of NASA security when she was exposed to a powerful alien device. She was transformed into a mighty cosmic powered hero. She is then caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.

She is really powerful and we are looking forward to see a super heroine as a star in a movie inspiring girls!

Girls in STEM

A couple of our STEM super heroes!
A couple of our STEM super heroes!

STEM Camp is committed to promoting girls participation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math fields. We believe that both, boys and girls can contribute enormously to our future, and there is nothing a girl can’t do. It is well known that there is a big gender gap in these fields, with STEM careers being predominantly filled with men. We want to change that imbalance. This can start with an enjoyable summer camp experience, which can open doors to amazement, discoveries and exploration in STEM.

When we started in 2013, for every girl we had 4 boys registered at STEM Camp. Last year we were able to reduce this gap to 2:1. We would love to see our camps filled with boys and girls, equally represented!

You can learn more about the importance of increasing girls and women’s participation in STEM HERE.

Never forget – curiosity is your main super power! Join STEM Camp this summer and let’s explore the amazing world of STEM together!

Best of luck to all participants in our Superhero Contest!
