What is the Computer Science and Literacy program?

The Computer Science and Literacy program, while using Minecraft, is very self directed. Students are presented with projects on several topics such as Coding Fundamentals, Game Design, Forces, Bear Rescue, Panda Habitat, Energy Transfer and more during Computer Science. Similarly, during Literacy the topics will include Science Fiction Storyboarding, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Shipwreck Narrative, Treasure Island, Storytelling and many more. Leaders and their students will pick the projects together and, in some cases, the projects may turn into week-long activities if the students are learning and having fun – a STEM Camp must! Click here for the activities.

What is the Social Studies/History & Geography and Visual Arts program?

Social Studies for the younger grades and History & Geography for the older grades, while using Minecraft, is still very self directed just like the other courses. Challenges include building Rome brick by brick, learning about the Wonder of the World, Indigenous Communities, Building Forts, 3D Coordinate Systems, Farming, Pioneering and Medieval Times. Similarly, during Visual Arts, students will build their own movie sets, learn about symmetrical pixel art, design houses, make music videos and create songs. Leaders and their students will pick the projects together as with all weeks. Click here for the activities.

Only 15 students per class.

PLEASE NOTE: You will need a copy of Minecraft to take part in Minecraft sessions. You may use the Java version, Xbox, iPad or Switch. All courses are in Eastern Standard Time.
