Formerly known as Jesse’s Journey, Defeat Duchenne Canada‘s vision is a future without Duchenne.
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (often referred to as DMD, or simply Duchenne), is the most common form (of more than 30 types) of muscular dystrophy. It is an extremely complex disease with a broad range of progressive symptoms, and is the most common form of muscular dystrophy diagnosed in children. Defeat Duchenne Canada’s work engages and supports families across Canada, funds more research, and educates our nation’s leaders to gain the Federal support needed to make even greater progress towards their ultimate goal: to defeat Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
STEM Camp
STEM Camp is pleased to have been involved as a contributor to Defeat Duchenne Canada in 2022 through our engagement of John Davidson as a speaker. In May of 2022, John provided a virtual presentation to STEM Camp summer staff (who had been hired thus far), resulting in over one hundred attendees. John’s presentation was an inspirational opportunity for the young people of today to learn from his family’s experiences in their fight against Duchenne. As a further contribution, Defeat Duchenne Canada provided five hundred (500) copies of John’s book for every STEM Camp summer staff person, Jesse’s Journey, that tells the story of John and his family’s amazing commitment of raising money and awareness to help find a cure for Duchenne. More information on John Davidson can be found on the Defeat Duchenne Canada website.
